EDDYSTONE BOROUGH ORDINANCES

Below is a brief summary of some of the Eddystone Borough Ordinances that are enforced by the Police Department. A full copy of the Ordinances are available for review in the Borough Secretary’s office. Residents should refer to the source manual for the exact wording of the Ordinances.

Ordinance # 509 Open Containers

No person shall carry an open container of an alcoholic beverage on public property, including vehicles.

Fine: Up to $600.00 and up to 30 days in jail.

Ordinance # 443 Loitering

No person shall remain, loiter or wander in and about a place without any lawful purpose or reason.

Fine: Up to $300.00 and up to 30 days in jail.

Ordinance # 537 Weapons

Discharging any air gun, spring loaded gun or pellet gun is illegal. Any knives with a blade greater than 3 inches in length is illegal to carry.

Fine: Up to $1,000.00 and up to 30 days in jail.

Ordinance # 555 Abandoned Vehicles

It shall be illegal to leave an abandoned vehicle on public or private property.

Fine: $50.00 to $1,000.00 and up to 30 days in jail.

Ordinance # 618 Curfew

It shall be unlawful for any person 17 yrs or less to be or remain in or upon the streets within the Borough of Eddystone at night between the hours of 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

1st Offense: Warning letter to the parent/guardian.

Fine: $50.00 to $150.00 to the parent and up to 10 days in jail.

Ordinance # 439 Littering

No person shall throw or deposit litter in or upon any street, sidewalk or other public place within the Borough. Residents must maintain a trash can for their trash and may not sweep litter into the street.

Fine: Up to $1,000.00 and up to 30 days in jail.

Ordinance # 605 Disorderly House

It shall be unlawful for any property owner, lessee or tenant to maintain, keep, lease or allow a disorderly house, room or other premises in the Borough.

Fine: Up to $300.00 for each offense and up to 30 days in jail.

If convicted the Borough may revoke the occupancy permit.

Ordinance # 594 Skateboards, Roller Blades & Scooters

It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in skateboarding, roller blading and scootering in the Borough where signs have been posted and on certain designated streets. All persons must obey all traffic laws and shall yield the right of way to all pedestrians and motor vehicles. Anyone who is 16 years of age or younger must wear a safety helmet at all times and must wear reflective clothing at night time. Parents are responsible for the fine if their child violates this ordinance.

Fine: Up to $25.00, plus court costs, for each offense.

Ordinance # 617 Sex Offender Registry

It shall be unlawful for any person to establish a permanent residence or temporary residence within 1,500 feet of any child care facility, common open space, community center, public park or recreational facility, or school.

Fine: Up to $1,000.00, and up to 90 days in jail.
